Office File servers
A file server is a computer, connected to a network which provides a location for shared storage(such as documents, sound files, photographs, movies, images, databases, et cetera) that can be accessed by the workstations on the network and even from other sites on the internet including home and remote workers.

OfficeNet specialises in the setup and if necessary installation and support of both Windows and Linux file servers.

  • Both Windows and Linux file servers can be accessed from any networked computer including windows 98, 2000, XP and Vista.
  • Our file servers all have Xeon quad core processors and Gigabit (1000mbps) network interfaces so they are fast.
  • We can incorporate redundant and mirroring raid for speed and data security
  • Servers provide a central store for network users and are a single place to be backed up

We understand that no one server fits all and 90% of the servers we build, setup, install and support are customised at some point, whether its more hard disk space, faster cpu's or a mirroring backup system we have experience in the right areas to do the job properly.

Servers are designed to stay on and keep going. However all devices with moving parts are mechanical and will eventually break down or need upgrading. For this reason we offer support contracts on a month-by-month basis that cover telephone support and even remote access support. You are then entitled to our reduced onsite labour rates. Even if you have your own IT staff some times sometimes a bit of experience out of the box helps.

We specialise in backup for Linux servers, both onsite and remote. Completely hands-off and verified by email to you every morning. We can set up incremental backups, so you can retrieve that document you changed last Tuesday and full system backups, to the extent that we can send you a hard disk the same day in the post which you slot back into the server after any disaster. Give us a call to discuss file servers in more detail. We work with a wide range of industries and have the hardware and software skills to solve any problem. We operate nationwide but try to do most work remotely. Sometimes a file server is a starting point but they can be used for much more like email, web proxy services and backing up other servers etc.

File servers are great for centralising data in a singe place but when it comes to finding the data you require quickly you need to relate it to a project or company you require a system that works on top and manages all this information. That’s why we developed our own Document Management system, OfficeNet Workplace. It does allot more to including full company contacts database, integrated email, automated document version control, EDMS can electronically file incoming faxes. We designed Workplace to be the place people can go to a company when they are using a computer. It was specifically written for companies that have staff and deal with paper.
